COFCO International buys two Brazilian mills from Bunge
In Brazil, COFCO International announced an agreement to acquire the Rio Vermelho and Nova Unialco sugar mills in the Araçatuba region of São Paulo state from Bunge, expanding its sugar operations in Brazil. Having operated in Brazil for more than a decade, COFCO International continues to invest in the country and play an important role in connecting Brazilian agricultural production to global markets. The acquisition supports the long-term development of the sector, benefiting farmers and local communities while contributing to regional economic growth.
The Rio Vermelho and Nova Unialco sugar mills became part of Bunge’s portfolio following its business combination with Viterra, completed in July 2025. The completion of the transaction is subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory approvals.
