CMA CGM flagship takes record bio-LNG load in Rotterdam
In the Netherlands, CMA CGM’s new 24,212-TEU container ship Notre Dame completed its first bio-LNG bunkering in Rotterdam with 11,125 cubic meters of fuel, the largest bio-LNG delivery to a CMA CGM vessel.
TotalEnergies supplied the fuel from an LNG bunkering vessel. The bio-LNG was produced in Europe from biomethane derived from agricultural and organic waste.
CMA CGM said the Rotterdam operation supports its plans to expand renewable-fuel use on routes between Europe and Asia. Commissioned in May, the French-flagged Notre Dame is CMA CGM’s newest LNG-powered ship and the world’s largest LNG-powered container vessel, according to the company. It is also the largest container ship sailing under the French flag and has 1,600 refrigerated-container connections.
