CMA CGM expands renewable marine fuel supply and shipping partnerships

October 14, 2026 |

In France, CMA CGM and ENGIE signed an Oct. 13 framework agreement to develop a biomethane plant at Le Havre, expanding the shipping company’s efforts to secure renewable marine fuels.

Subject to a final investment decision, the facility would convert livestock waste, household biowaste and agricultural residues into 7,000 metric tons of biomethane annually beginning in 2029 or 2030.

Beyond production, CMA CGM is pursuing fuel availability at bunkering hubs. At Singapore International Bunkering Conference and Exhibition, the company joined the Maritime and Port Authority and Singapore LNG Corporation in an agreement to explore liquefied biomethane supply, certification, emissions accounting and operational trials.

On the customer side, global freight forwarder DSV agreed Oct. 7 to use CMA CGM’s ACT+ shipping service, targeting 12,000 metric tons of CO2 reductions over two years through second-generation biofuels derived from used cooking oil.
