Beihai ramps up tanker and bulker work

March 26, 2026 |

In China, eworldship reports Beihai Shipbuilding on March 23 delivered MENAPII, a 319,000 dwt ammonia ready VLCC built for Euronav, the third vessel in a five ship series for Belgium’s CMB.TECH group and, according to the yard, nine months ahead of contract schedule.

The delivery came in the middle of a dense run of yard activity. Between March 20 and March 24, Beihai also started construction on two 210,000 dwt bulk carriers, floated out two more, and laid keels for another pair, underscoring how fast dual fuel and future fuel capable tonnage is now moving through Chinese yards.

Among the new starts was an LNG dual fuel bulker for MOL and a vessel for CITIC Financial Leasing and COSCO Shipping Bulk designed with both ammonia ready and methanol ready features. On March 21, the yard floated out an LNG dual fuel bulker for Singapore’s EPS and an ammonia fueled bulker for CMB.TECH. Two additional 210,000 dwt dual fuel bulkers, one for EPS and one for CMB.TECH, reached keel laying on March 23.
