Baywatch to bioplastics: Shellworks, which has a partnership with Pamela Anderson beauty brand, raises $15 million

In London, Shellworks, a company using microbes to ferment used cooking oil and other second-generation feedstocks into a biodegradable plastic alternative, has raised $15 million in a Series A funding 

The company will use the funds to scale up global production for its Vivomer material and expand into the US and EU wellness market. The company already has partnerships with Pamela Anderson’s beauty brand Sonsie Skin and personal care company Wild.

The round was led by investment fund alter equity. Nat Friedman and JamJar also participated, joining existing investors Founder Collective, Local Globe and Third Sphere.
