Bali architect Archigods eyes pistachio façade for luxury hotel

In Bali, architecture firm Archigods has submitted a luxury hotel design concept that embeds crushed pistachio shells in the building’s façade to create a “tactile, unexpected, and deeply earthy” visual feel in place of “sterile” concreate.

The proposed design—dubbed Blooming Ring—would also heavily use bamboo and timber, in a nod to Balinese building norms. “The pistachio shell facade provides a fascinating counterpoint – familiar natural materials meet clever, sustainable upcycling. It’s a statement about resourcefulness, minimizing environmental impact, and creating a building that truly feels rooted, right down to its unique, shell-flecked skin telling a quiet story of reuse,” according to a writeup in Yanko Design.
