ASA and AFAC promote the development of SAF in Mexico
In Mexico, Aviacionline reported that Airports and Auxiliary Services ( ASA ) will begin supplying sustainable aviation fuel this year through a pilot blending project at the Mexico Fuel Station. The initiative, coordinated with the Federal Civil Aviation Agency (AFAC) and the Ministry of Energy, aims to enable the first commercial flights using bio-kerosene in the country.
The agency will leverage its logistical capabilities to integrate the SAF into the operational value chain, enabling the delivery of this input to aircraft this year. This development is part of the national strategy to achieve the goal of net-zero emissions by 2050, according to the report.
As part of this process, the Government of Mexico is organizing the Fifth Technical Roundtable for the Development of Sustainable Fuels at the ASA International Training Center. The meeting will address the implementation of public policies, technical certification, technology, and financing schemes for the production of sustainable fuels with a regional focus in Latin America, the report added.
