Argentina approves new genetically modified soybean variety
In Argentina, the Argentine Government confirmed that the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries authorized, through Resolution 113/2026, the commercialization for all uses of a new genetically modified soybean that incorporates tolerance to herbicides that inhibit the HPPD enzyme, glyphosate, glufosinate ammonium and 2,4-D, and protection against the soybean cyst nematode and certain lepidopteran insects.
The government said that the approval was granted after successfully completing the evaluations carried out by the National Advisory Commission on Agricultural Biotechnology (CONABIA), which determined that the accumulated event does not present new or increased risks compared to other commercial soybeans and that its release to the agroecosystem is as safe as that of any conventional soybean.
Furthermore, the Market Policy Directorate analyzed the potential impact of its marketing and determined that no risks were identified for Argentine exports of soybeans and their derivatives, it added.
