India’s first hydrogen train awaits inauguration
In India, BioEnergy Times reported that India’s first hydrogen-powered train is ready for launch and is currently awaiting the final inauguration, with the Railways seeking time from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to fix a date.
For now, the train is stationed at the Shakurbasti shed. Once formally launched, it will begin operations on the Jind–Sonipat route, according to the report.
Railway officials said that both the hydrogen train and the associated plant have already completed trial runs and inspections successfully.
During the inspection, the hydrogen plant and the train were found to meet all required technical and safety standards. Experts examined every aspect in detail and submitted a satisfactory report.
The report also noted that ffficials said the introduction of the hydrogen train will make travel on this route more environment-friendly, as it will run on hydrogen fuel instead of diesel, helping reduce pollution.
