Russian grain exports rose 1.6-fold in May
In Ukraine, APK Inform reported that Russia exported 3.7 million tons of major grain crops (wheat, barley and corn) in May, 1.6 times more than a year earlier, according to data from the Russian Grain Union.
Elena Tyurina, head of the analytical department at the RGU, said that wheat shipments last month also rose by nearly 1.6 times to 3.4 million tons. Corn exports totaled 228,600 tons, almost 3.6 times higher, while barley shipments reached 105,700 tons, nearly 3.3 times higher.
“Overall, 12 types of crop products were shipped in May – including grains, pulses and oilseeds. A year ago there were 16. The trend toward a reduction in the number of shipped crops, alongside growth in exports of the main grain types, has been observed since the beginning of 2026,” the expert said.
