Sunoil converts Dutch biodiesel barge to B100
In the Netherlands, Manifold Times reports the inland barge Birjo II has been converted to run fully on B100 biodiesel while transporting biofuels between Sunoil’s Kampen production site, storage locations and customers
The DK Shipping owned barge was converted with BFT Tanker Logistics and can fuel directly at Sunoil’s Kampen location. Sunoil said the project keeps the existing engine in place, making the barge a working example of how inland vessels can shift fuels without full replacement. The setup also turns Birjo II into part of Sunoil’s own supply chain: the barge runs on the company’s biodiesel while carrying biodiesel through Dutch inland waterways. Sunoil said the conversion creates a platform for rolling out additional B100 barges across Europe.
