Bionema says yes, they can! As we hear about antibiotic resistance, we also hear about pesticide resistance. The more we use, the more they resist. Dr. Minshad Ansari of UK-based Bionema told Horticultural Week recently that the solution for the vine weevil pest, which has caused serious economic losses in the UK, is biochemical alternatives. Ansari said these alternatives do as well, or even better, than traditional dangerous chemical pesticides. Bionema’s new bio-insecticide products are already helping strawberry growers in England fight those evil vine weevils. Their latest research and trials are finding up to 40% in increased efficiency and 20% in decreased costs, some serious numbers to consider.
