Zimbabwe seeks to quadruple ethanol production by 2035 to 600M liters
In Zimbabwe, the Herald newspaper reports the government is planning to shift gears and move its sugarcane industry more fully away from sugar production focus on ethanol. It plans to produce 600 million liters of ethanol by 2035, up from the current 155 million liters. Currently blending 20% ethanol, Zimbabwe first implemented ethanol blending in 2013. The South African government is consulting the Zimbabwean government on its experiences as it looks to dig deeper into ethanol blending in the face of unstable fuel prices.
