World’s largest methanol dual-fuel container ship named in China
In China, CACEM reports Orient Overseas Container Line has named the world’s largest methanol dual-fuel container ship, OOCL Wisdom, at a ceremony on May 8 at Nantong COSCO KHI Ship Engineering in Jiangsu province.
The 24,168 twenty-foot equivalent unit vessel carries the world’s largest methanol dual-fuel propulsion system, with main engines, auxiliary engines and boilers all fitted for dual-fuel operation. The ship can switch between methanol and conventional fuel oil during operations, giving operators flexibility to match fuel choice to availability and route requirements.
OOCL Wisdom is the first in a series of seven vessels of the class being built at NACKS for Orient Overseas Container Line. Delivery is scheduled for June.
