Woodside targets hydrogen production at Perth refueling project this year
In the UK, GasWorld reported that Australian energy firm Woodside expects to begin hydrogen production at its refueling development in Perth during the second half of 2026.
In its Q2 results, the company confirmed leak testing and cold commissioning for its hydrogen refueler at its H2Perth project had been completed, according to the report.
The project in Rockingham, Western Australia, is installing a 2.6MW electrolyzer to produce up to 235kg of hydrogen per day that will supply an on-site refueling station.
Woodside plans to scale production to 1,000kg per day, which could absorb the majority of the electrolyzer’s capacity. The site will use electricity from the grid through renewable energy certificates, it added.
The company said commissioning activities are continuing on the site, with start-up targeted for Q3 2026, with hydrogen production expected around the same time.
