Washington launches clean hydrogen assistance program
In the US, Washington state has launched its first technical assistance program for businesses, fleets, facilities, communities and tribal nations evaluating clean hydrogen and renewable fuels.
The Resources for the End-Use Advancement of Clean Hydrogen program, or REACH, is being run by the Washington State Department of Commerce with the Washington State University Energy Program and CHARGE. It offers expert guidance with no formal application process and minimal eligibility requirements.
Funded with nearly $1 million from Washington’s Climate Commitment Act, REACH will operate through June 30, 2027 and will incorporate environmental justice recommendations into project planning.
The program forms part of broader state work on lower-carbon fuels. Washington’s Clean Fuel Standard also allows qualifying LNG and non petroleum marine fuels to generate credits for the portion used within state waters.
