Verbund, Voestalpine expand partnership on hydrogen, renewables
In Bulgaria, Renewables Now reported that Austrian utility Verbund AG and local steel and technology group Voestalpine have expanded their long-standing partnership, forming the basis for joint projects in the areas of energy supply, hydrogen, battery storage, renewables expansion and flexibility marketing.
The companies said they will also continue their collaboration in the hydrogen segment. They intend to further develop the H2FUTURE hydrogen pilot plant, which became operational in 2019 at Voestalpine’s site in Linz. At the same time, the parties are working on a plan for supplying green hydrogen to Voestalpine sites, according to the report.
The companies will additionally evaluate options for expanding renewable energy generation at suitable sites as well as opportunities for long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs).
