USDA soybean-oil outlook implies up to 630 million additional D4 RINs
In Washington, Fastmarkets reports the USDA’s forecast for U.S. soybean-oil consumption in biofuel production implies the potential generation of 600–630 million additional D4 RINs in the 2026–27 marketing year. The agency maintained its estimate at 17.8 billion pounds, up from 14.8 billion pounds in 2025–26—a 3-billion-pound increase. Fastmarkets estimates that this additional oil could support roughly 400 million gallons of biodiesel or 388 million gallons of renewable diesel. However, the calculation is illustrative, not a prediction of actual credit generation: feedstock choices, fuel production mix and timing will affect the final outcome.
