US oil refiners seen potentially adding SAF to renewable diesel conversions
In Washington, Platts reports that analysts believe some oil refiners in the US to be closely watching the shifting policy landscape to favor more use of sustainable aviation fuel and as a result are considering adding SAF production to their renewable diesel conversion plans. Shell announced last week a similar plan in Rotterdam. With fossil-based jet fuel and diesel priced similarly, one analyst said that in order to make SAF production competitive alongside renewable diesel production, SAF subsidies will need to be higher.
