Ukraine harvest stands at 58% of projected area
In Ukraine, Ukrinform reported that Ukrainian farmers have harvested 58% of the projected area of early grains, with wheat accounting for the largest share at 24.6 million tons. The highest yields were recorded in Khmelnytskyi region at 70.8 centners per hectare.
The figures were published by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food.
“As of 25 August, farmers across all regions have harvested 6.76 million hectares, or 58% of the forecast area. The total gross harvest amounts to 31.73 million tons of new‑crop grain at an average yield of 47 centners per hectare,” the ministry noted.
Wheat harvest totals 24.61 million tonns from 5 million hectares (97% of the area) at an average yield of 49.2 centners per hectare. Barley harvest stands at 6.32 million tons from 1.46 million hectares (98%) at 43.4 centners per hectare, according to the report.
The largest volumes of early grains and pulses were collected in Odesa, Kirovohrad and Dnipropetrovsk regions, the report added.
