Uganda unveils $400 million waste-to-energy plant
In Uganda, NTV reported that Uganda has launched a $400 million waste-to-power project at Namanve Industrial Park, aimed at tackling the country’s mounting garbage crisis while boosting electricity supply.
The facility, developed in partnership with NLS Waste Power Plant, will incinerate 1,500 tons of waste daily to generate 45 megawatts of power, which shall be added onto the national grid, according to the report.
Energy State Minister Okaasai Opolot said that the project will ease pressure on the Kiteezi landfill, the report added.
