TUI Cruises expands liquefied biomethane use
In Germany, CruiseMapper reports cruise operator TUI Cruises is expanding its use of liquefied biomethane (LBM) across its dual-fuel fleet to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The Mein Schiff Relax is operating entirely on LBM during its 2026 Northern European summer season, while Mein Schiff Flow has been regularly bunkering the fuel in Barcelona since May. TUI Cruises estimates LBM use had already reduced emissions by about 26,000 metric tons of CO2 equivalent by July and expects savings to reach approximately 50,000 tons by year-end, supporting the company’s broader fleet decarbonization strategy.
