Tokyo Gas to supply imported biomethane to FUJIFILM for manufacturing
In Japan, FUJIFILM Corporation, Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd. and Tokyo Gas Engineering Solutions Corporation have reached an agreement for the supply of city gas linked to biomethane produced overseas to Fujifilm’s Ashigara Site at the Kanagawa Factory. This agreement marks the first initiative in Japan’s chemical industry to use such city gas at a manufacturing site.
This agreement is a preliminary initiative on a pilot basis to verify the future potential of using such city gas supplied under an arrangement linked to biomethane produced overseas, while assessing regulatory treatment, supply stability, costs and other factors. The city gas supplied under this agreement will be used in part of the Ashigara Site. The three companies will continue working together on initiatives related to the decarbonization of energy use at manufacturing sites.
