The Digest’s 2026 Multi-Slide Guide to the Atlantic Biomass Dual Pathway System
Atlantic Biomass has unveiled an integrated Dual Pathway system that simultaneously produces ethanol-derived and syngas-derived Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) from non-food biomass. By combining simultaneous ball milling and enzyme hydrolysis, the technology eliminates expensive pretreatment steps. This vertical integration nearly doubles the biomass-to-SAF yield from 42% to 79% without adding significant processing costs. If deployed using US perennial grasses, this system could produce over one million barrels of SAF daily, enough to power all domestic commercial and freight flights.
