Taiwanese researchers find way to make small-scale biodiesel production viable
In Taiwan, Focus Taiwan reports researchers led by National Taiwan University have developed a new technique using micro-reactors and a helix wire separator that helps purify biodiesel from wastewater during the production process, achieving more than 91% purity. The system can allow for biodiesel to be produced from used cooking oil at an street vendor thanks to the simple technology and its small scale. The use of these small systems can help to break the reliance on centralized, large-scale production and improve energy resilience.
