May 24, 2026 |

In Taiwan, Taiwan News reported that Taiwan’s soybean cultivation area has increased more than fivefold over the past decade as officials promote domestically grown soybeans as a sustainable, low-carbon agricultural product.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Taiwan currently produces about 5,000 tons of soybeans annually, accounting for only about 0.2% of domestic demand, with imports continuing to serve as the primary supply source, per CNA.

However, the area devoted to soybean cultivation has steadily expanded from about 680 hectares in 2014 to 4,473 hectares in 2024, according to the report.
