Sunoil converts inland barge to run on B100 biodiesel

June 3, 2026 |

In the Netherlands, Manifold Times reports that biofuel producer Sunoil has converted the inland barge Birjo II to run fully on B100 biodiesel, using the vessel to move biodiesel from its Kampen production site to storage locations and customers.

The DK Shipping owned barge was converted with BFT Tanker Logistics and can fuel directly at Sunoil’s Kampen location. Birjo II now burns Sunoil’s biodiesel, loads biodiesel at the same production site and carries it through Dutch inland waterways. Sunoil said the conversion keeps the existing engine in place, showing how current inland vessels can shift to B100 without full replacement.
