Spanish regional political parties seek moratorium on biogas projects
In Spain, Diario de Alta Aragón reports Chunta Aragonesista (CHA) and the Green Party in Aragón are calling for a six-month moratorium on new biogas and biomethane plants while regional authorities develop stronger planning and regulations. The parties say the rapid growth of roughly 75 projects across Aragón, including 31 in Huesca province, has raised concerns about environmental impacts, digestate management, waste sourcing and proximity to communities. Their proposed measures include a public project registry, limits on installation concentration, stricter environmental assessments, controls on waste transport and greater public participation.
