Spanish Government and Maersk to explore green fuels production
In Spain, Puente de Mando reported that the Spanish government and the Danish shipping group A.P. Moller Maersk have signed a general collaboration protocol to explore opportunities for large-scale production of green fuels in Spain, under which up to two million tons of green fuels could be produced annually.
This project aims to explore the viability of the entire value chain, from renewable energy sources to the supply of marine fuels for ships. According to Soren Skou, CEO of A.P. Moller Maersk, there is a need to rapidly accelerate the availability of green fuels, and for this, “Spain has significant renewable resources and is located along key maritime routes.”
The parties involved are studying the possibility of building production plants for this type of fuel in Andalusia and Galicia, according to the report.
