Soybean planting reaches 4.39% of Brazil’s area, consultancy says

In Brazil, Noticias Agricolas reported that Soybean planting for the 2026/27 crop in Brazil reached 4.39% of the total estimated area, compared to 4.15% at the same time last year and also ahead of the five-year historical average of 1.44%, according to data from consultancy Pátria AgroNegócios.

“Planting is progressing well from the start. The early arrival of rains in the Midwest is providing favorable planting conditions for much of Mato Grosso, Rondônia, Mato Grosso do Sul, and southern Goiás,” said the director of the consulting firm, Matheus Pereira, in a statement.

Brazil’s 2026/27 soybean crop was estimated at 173.75 million tons, a 3.3% decrease compared to the previous season, according to a presentation by Pátria AgroNegócios.

The area planted with soybeans in Brazil for the 2026/27 season was estimated at 49 million hectares, a 0.77% increase compared to the previous season, according to the consultancy. On the other hand, the firm projects a 3.3% drop in average productivity, to 3,545 tons per hectare, the report added.
