South Africa gives green light to country’s first LanzaTech ethanol project
In South Africa, the country’s first project using LanzaTech’s ethanol technology from industrial waste gases has received the go ahead. Construction of the 60 million liter per year facility co-located at the Samancor ferrochrome smelter will begin next year. The $77 million plant is as a result of a grant from the U.S. Trade and Development Agency to develop the feasibility study. Successful pilot tests at the facility have already been undertaken following the importation of a pilot fermentation unit.
