Singapore MPA teams with CMA CGM and SLNG to explore liquified biomethane for marine

October 14, 2026 |

In Singapore, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), the CMA CGM Group, and Singapore LNG Corporation Pte Ltd (SLNG) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to explore the supply and use of liquefied bio-methane as a marine fuel in Singapore.

The parties will explore how existing gas infrastructure in Singapore could support the supply of liquefied bio-methane for maritime use, and how its sustainability attributes and greenhouse gas emission savings can be appropriately accounted for when it is mixed with natural gas in shared infrastructure. They will also undertake pilots and trials to validate these approaches under actual operating conditions and inform their potential wider application. The findings will build industry knowledge to support the development of liquefied bio-methane bunkering capabilities in Singapore.
