RIN prices soar after RFS comment period closes
In New York state, in anticipation of higher blending mandates in 2017 under the Renewable Fuel Standard, D6 RIN prices jumped to nearly three-year highs at 99 cents as of Monday, the end of the public comment period on next year’s rules. That’s up 5 cents since last week. D4 RINs jumped 4 cents to $1.04, also the highest in almost three years. Analysis suggests that a tighter RIN market has already been priced into RIN trade and shouldn’t see them go back up to $1.40 as they did in 2013.
