Researchers determine how to exchange plastic and metal electromechanical components with bio-base
In Germany, INNOVENT investigated in a joint research project with febana Feinmechanische Baugruppen GmbH how electromechanical assemblies with components made of plastic and metal can also be composed of bio- and recycled plastics. These electromechanical assemblies are used e.g. used as plug or sensor housings in part with safety relevance in industrial applications and contain additional components such as conductor tracks or printed circuit boards. They are used in demanding environments under wide temperature ranges, high humidity and sometimes aggressive chemicals. The components cast in the plastic housing must have good adhesion to the housing or the casting compounds used in order to avoid the penetration of liquids.
