Recent rainfall aids Argentina’s soybean crop, FAS report says
In Argentina, World Grain reported that a timely February rainfall stabilized crop conditions in Argentina following a dry January, leaving the 2025-26 soybean production forecast for the country at 48 million tons, according to the latest report from the Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) of the US Department of Agriculture.
“Some second soy crop will likely suffer to the January dry spell arriving during the crops’ key developmental stage, but the February precipitation should mitigate a portion, but not all of the productivity loss brought on by the dry January,” the FAS said in its recently released report.
If the FAS forecast is realized, this year’s output would represent a 5% decline from the 2024-25 total of 51.1 million tons. However, it would still be the fourth largest crop in the past 10 years, according to the report.
