Quebec proposes amendments to its renewable gas rules under new energy plan
In Canada, the Government of Quebec will revise the proposed amendment to the Renewable Source Gas Regulations (RGSR) with input from the Régie de l’énergie and a committee of experts. It aims to promote the development of competitively priced local renewable source gas (RGS) production, reduce the use of imports of GSR outside Canada and minimize the tariff impact for consumers.
The Integrated Energy Resource Management Plan (IERMP) provides for a greater contribution of bioenergy (liquid, solid and gaseous) in Quebec’s supply, with a target of 50 TWh by 2050. The RGSR remains an important lever for the achievement of this target.
