PuriFire Energy joins forces with Severn Trent to transform wastewater into green fuel
In the UK, Sustainable Times reported that PuriFire Energy has secured backing through Innovate UK’s Investor Partnerships, Clean Energy and Climate Technologies program.
The report noted that this support gives the company fresh momentum to convert wastewater into green hydrogen and biomethane fuels with Severn Trent.
At the heart of the initiative is PuriFire’s proprietary hydrothermal gasification technology. This process is being evaluated for wastewater and sludge treatment systems. The company aims to show that wastewater treatment facilities could evolve into decentralized clean energy hubs. These could generate hydrogen and biomethane, and recover clean water for reuse at a commercial scale, the report added.
The wider Investor Partnerships initiative is part of Innovate UK’s strategy to accelerate the growth of promising clean technology businesses in Britain.
