November 6, 2026 |

In Bulgaria, Renewables Now reported that the Polish city of Stalowa Wola has officially started the construction of a waste-to-energy combined heat and power plant at the cost of $79 million.

The project, scheduled for launch in 2029, will generate thermal energy for 100% of the residents’ domestic hot water needs during the summer season and will meet about 30% of total heat demand during the heating season. The electricity produced will be for the plant’s own needs, with surplus being fed into the power grid, according to the report.

The project has been supported by National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management, the report added.

Stalowa Wola, with a population estimated at 51,000, is located in southeastern Poland in the Subcarpathian province.
