Platts under fire from traders for manipulating ethanol price data
In the UK, biofuels traders continue to complain about the new method that Platts is using to track ethanol prices in the Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp corridor, saying that the prices fluctuate too much. The new system was brought in Aug. 1 and since then prices have fluctuated as much as 7 to 56 euros per week. Platts and some ethanol producers are under investigation by the European Commission for anti-competitive market behavior.
