Platts to launch daily Dutch Advanced Ethanol FOB ARA assessments

May 20, 2026 |

In the Netherlands, Platts, part of S&P Global Energy, proposes to launch daily Dutch Advanced Ethanol FOB ARA assessments, effective July 14, 2026. This proposal reflects increased market interest in ethanol eligible for Dutch Advanced renewable transport compliance use. Platts would assess an outright value, as well as a premium to the Ethanol T2 FOB Rotterdam paper market.

The proposed assessments would reflect undenatured fuel ethanol meeting Platts T2 FOB Rotterdam product purity specification requirements as listed in the specification guide, but produced from feedstocks qualifying as advanced in the Netherlands, including feedstocks and definitions listed in:

·      Annex IX A of the Renewable Energy Directive

·      Appendix 5 of the Netherlands Energy for Transport Regulation

·      Annex IV of the Implementing Regulation

·      Material categorized as Annex IX-B under the Renewable Energy Directive would not be reflected.

The material reflected would have a minimum greenhouse gas saving of 90% versus the Renewable Energy Directive fossil comparator of 94g CO2e/MJ. The assessments would reflect a T2 duty-paid FOB Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp basis, with a volume of 1,000 metric tons. Other volumes would be considered, but may be normalized to reflect the basis volume.
