Platts sees Brazilian Q1 hydrous ethanol demand remaining steady
In Brazil, Platts reports that despite record high hydrous ethanol prices, it expects consumption to remain steady during Q1 because even though prices are high, they are still just around 70% of the price of gasoline. UNICA data showed on Tuesday that sugar mills sold 1.96 billion liters of ethanol in December, nearly 7% higher on the year despite high prices, indicating that the trend won’t be limited by the price increase. Overall sales were up more than 12% on the year through December at 18.17 billion liters.
