Petrobras to supply Vale its B24 for rail
In Brazil, Petrobras and Vale announced an agreement to supply products focused on competitiveness and advancing the decarbonization agenda. The agreement includes the use of Diesel R in the mining company’s vehicles.
The agreement provides for joint action by companies to assess low-carbon business opportunities, including, among others, co-processed diesel with renewable content, natural gas and bunker with 24% renewable content.
Supplied by Petrobras, Diesel R is fueling a locomotive that runs along the railroad route from Espírito Santo to Minas Gerais; in addition to an off-road truck with a capacity of 214 tons, which operates at the Fábrica Nova mine, in the Mariana Complex (MG).
This is Petrobras’ first sale of its co-processed diesel with renewable content directly to an end consumer. Produced by the company from the co-processing of petroleum derivatives with raw materials of plant origin, diesel B R5, in addition to its renewable content, also has the mandatory blend of 14% biodiesel, delivering to the customer a fuel with 18.3% sustainable content.
