Orlen commissions $220M HVO facility
In Poland, Orlen has HVO production in Płock with a capacity of about 300,000 metric tons per year. The installation, worth over 800 million PLN, can process canola oil and used cooking oils as well as mixes. The launch of the plant increases the production potential of the ORLEN Group to about 700,000 tons of biofuels per year, with a plan to grow to 1.1 million tons by 2030.
In parallel, ORLEN is developing the “Intercropled for Biofuels” programme, based on a local content approach and building a national value chain. The programme integrates farmers, industry and technology partners, supporting the development of domestic raw materials – especially for second-generation biofuels, which will ultimately power the HVO installation. This will ensure the stability of supplies, strengthen Polish agriculture and reduce the carbon footprint of the entire process.
