Ontario farmers to plant more corn in 2026
In Canada, Farmtario reported that Ontario farmers plan to increase corn acres by 5.4% this spring, citing figures from Statistics Canada.
The report also stated that Ontario farmers plan to seed 2.9 million acres of soybeans this spring, unchanged from last year, according to Statistics Canada.
Using an average yield of 50.6 bushels per acre, production has the potential to come in at four million tons, up from the 2025 output of 3.6 million tons. The year-over-year increase in production comes on the heels of historically low ending stocks in Ontario, the report added.
