NZ dairy giant drops biodiesel for no longer being economically viable
In New Zealand, Stuff reports that Fonterra, the largest dairy producer in the country who has committed to net zero emissions by 2050 and a 30% reduction by 2030 has abandoned its biofuels ambitions because it is no longer economically viable. When Z Energy shut down production in March due to rising tallow prices, the company offered to import biodiesel for Fonterra, but the fuel was even more expensive. Z Energy does not plan to reopen under current conditions.
