In Philadelphia, cosmetics ingredient supplier INOLEX has received 55 certifications from the United States Department of Agriculture’s BioPreferred Program—giving the company the largest personal care ingredient portfolio of such products.
The BioPreferred Program defines biobased products as those made in “whole or in significant part” from plants and other agricultural, marine, and forestry materials. Of the company’s 55 certified biobased products, more than half are 100% certified renewable content. 90% can boast 80–100% certified biobased content.
“Consumers are very interested in buying natural beauty products, but there is a lot of noise in our industry about what “natural” means. It’s an issue that our industry is working hard to resolve… Having a portfolio of natural certifications provides additional support to our definition of natural. We are excited to add the USDA BioPreferred Program to our portfolio of certifications as an important step in defining natural or biobased with scientific credibility,” says Rocco Burgo, Chief Scientist at INOLEX.
Products include cationic conditioning agent Emulsense HC, cyclomethicones alternative LexFeel WOW and LexFeel WOW DT, sun care film former LexFilm Sun Natural, and caprylhydroxamic acid-based preservation alternative Spectrastat G2.
