In Malaysia, a study conducted by researchers at the University of Malaya shows evidence that the bioactive components of mushrooms can help delay or prevent some neurodegenerative diseases like dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. Past studies have shown that mushrooms offer other health protective benefits like high Vitamin D levels, anti-cancer properties, anti-inflammatory and even immune boosting components. However, not many studies have been done to look at how mushrooms affect the brain or analysis of the neuroprotective and cognitive benefits it offers, up until now. This study demonstrated that mushrooms can indeed improve nerve growth in the brain, which helps delay dementia and Alzheimer’s, so eat up!
