Funds will be earmarked for infrastructure, technologies, and workforce development to advance the bioeconomy. The growth of domestic bioindustrial manufacturing will generate additional employment opportunities through facility construction, transportation services, and agricultural feedstock processing.
“The positive impacts of bioindustrial manufacturing will extend far beyond farming and rural communities,” Walz said in a press statement from BioMADE. “It will benefit everyone by creating new domestic products, strengthening supply chains, and helping us achieve ambitious climate goals.”
The bipartisan support from Minnesota builds on federal investments and biomanufacturing priorities established by Congress and the Biden administration.
BioMADE includes a network of 200-plus member organizations that aim to establish robust and resilient supply chains, enhance national self-sufficiency, reshore manufacturing jobs, and produce environmentally sustainable products without relying on traditional petroleum sources.
