In Switzerland, a bioplastic watch jointly developed by luxury watchmaker Omega and its more budget-friendly counterpart Swatch is facing significant shortages due to strong demand.

Priced at $250, the eco-friendly MoonSwatch is even harder to find than the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms, which retails for $13,000 and has been a hit among the well-heeled, according to Bloomberg.

Extended wait lists are common for luxury watches, and MoonSwatch is even “more exclusive than luxury brands such as Breguet, Blancpain or Glashütte Original,” Swatch Group AG said in a recent earnings conference call.  “The stores are experiencing an incredible run of customers of all age categories and origins. Demand, which is increasing daily in the markets, currently far exceeds available product. Shortly after delivery, these products are already sold out.”
