In Thailand, chemical giant BASF has inaugurated a new manufacturing facility for the biobased surfactant alkyl polyglucoside.

APGs are biobased, readily biodegradable, mild secondary surfactants.  The investment at Bangpakong strengthens BASF’s position in a growth geography and serves customers with greater agility and more flexibility, according to a press statement.

“This investment reinforces our commitment to being a reliable partner for customers across personal care, home care, and industrial sectors,” said Mary Kurian, President Care Chemicals. “By expanding our APG production in Thailand, we’re enhancing regional supply capabilities, enabling faster, more flexible service, and supporting the growing demand for sustainable, high-performance solutions.”

BASF also produces APGs in Düsseldorf, Germany; Cincinnati, Ohio; and Jinshan, China.

Another new APG production line in Cincinnati is scheduled for completion in 2026.
